Halloween may look different this year than it has in the past, but I know we can still make it fun. I have compiled a list of Halloween costume ideas that will make wearing a protective face mask easy to incorporate.

The first section of this list are costumes that already include masks. It would be simple to wear a protective face mask in place of or underneath one of these masks.
- Doctor – doctors already wear masks. It will look completely normal and natural for a doctor to be wearing a mask.
- Ninja – Ninjas have their faces covered to muffle the sound of their breathing. This sounds an awful lot like covering your face to prevent the spread of germs too!
- Genie – Genie’s don’t always cover their faces, but it could be easily incorporated. Think I Dream of Jeanie style.
- Bandit – They wear bandanas to cover their faces. This is pretty much perfect!
This section of the list includes costume ideas for characters who wear masks. You could again incorporate a protective face mask under the character’s mask or decorate your protective mask to look like the face of the character. These seem pretty self-explanatory to me.
- Bane
- Plague Doctor
- Hostage
- Spiderman
- Ironman
- Black Panther
- Guy Fawkes
These next few would be easy to use a mask to replace makeup.
- Most animals – You can find face masks available online, or you can decorate your own to look like the animal you choose to dress as.
- Skeleton – If you are planning to dress as a skeleton you would probably use face makeup to complete your look. You can use a decorative facemask and save yourself the hassle of making up half of your face.
- Vampire – You won’t have to worry about how to make those teeth. You can just put on a face mask that has a vampire smile, complete with the teeth!
- Emoji – there are a lot of these available online already, or you could make your own. This would be a super simple costume.
- Joker – This is similar to the skeleton costume. You could replace the makeup on half of your face with a face mask, or you could wear a disposable mask to be the Joker posing as a doctor like he did in the movie.
- Jack Skellington – You can replace the makeup required for this Halloween costume with a face mask.
- Clown – This is another Halloween costume where you could replace the makeup with a face mask.
- Jack-o-lantern – A Jack-O-Lantern would be a super classic and super easy Halloween costume. You just need to wear orange, put some black triangles around your eyes, and complete the look with a decorated face mask.
- Cheshire Cat – I’ve seen a lot of Cheshire Cat face masks floating around the internet already. Some of them look pretty cool. This would be a great way to make your Halloween costume look even better.
- Zombie – I imagine that Zombie makeup would be a little difficult to do, but if you are going to incorporate a face mask you only need to create the design once and you can wear it as many times as you are going to wear your Halloween Costume.
- Anything that needs a mustache — #HashtagTheCowboy has been trending on Twitter ever since the quarantines have started. Tim has been sporting a pretty cool bandana with a handlebar mustache on it. Any other character who needs a mustache would work just as well.
Other Ideas
It would also be trendy to add a face mask to any Halloweeen costume you choose this year. You could even choose to make a homemade Halloween themed one like this.
